Public service video for Deloitte Impact Day in Los Angeles, documenting community service activity across the city with ground coverage and aerial drone cinematography.
Deloitte Impact Day Los Angeles
Capitola Media produced this public service video for Deloitte Impact Day in Los Angeles, documenting a day of community service across multiple locations in the city. The project combined ground-level event coverage with aerial drone cinematography to connect individual volunteer activity with a broader sense of place and scale.
Documenting a Day of Service Across Los Angeles
Deloitte Impact Day is part of the firm’s long-running volunteer tradition, bringing employees together with community organizations for a concentrated day of service. In Los Angeles, that meant a geographically distributed story rather than a single-site event.
The production needed to move between different activities while preserving one coherent narrative. Interviews, volunteer interactions, location footage and establishing shots helped show both the individual work taking place and the larger civic context surrounding it.
Using Drone Footage to Connect Multiple Locations
Aerial coverage gave the film a way to establish Los Angeles quickly and create visual transitions between service locations. Rather than functioning as generic scenic footage, the drone material supported the geography of the story: where the work was happening, how different locations related to the city around them and how the production could move from one part of the day to another without losing continuity.
That approach is especially useful for citywide public service and community projects. Ground footage provides the human detail, while aerial images can orient the audience and give the finished film a broader visual scale.
Public Service Storytelling for a Corporate Audience
The film was built around people participating in the work rather than around a conventional corporate presentation. That allowed Deloitte’s community involvement to be shown through visible activity, interactions and locations instead of relying only on statements about impact.
For a public service piece, the production challenge is to document real activity efficiently while still capturing enough structure for a polished edit. Camera coverage, sound, interviews and aerial footage all need to support the same story even when the day is unfolding across several locations.
Drone Production as Part of the Story
The project also serves as an example of how drone cinematography can be integrated into a larger production rather than treated as a separate specialty reel. Aerial shots were used to establish geography, create transitions and add scale, while the core of the film remained the people and community work on the ground.
