Sitecore Founder Fireside Chat | 3-Camera Interview
Capitola Media produced this three-camera fireside chat for Sitecore featuring Lee Miles, then Chief Customer Success Officer, in conversation with Bjarne Hansen, founder of Sitecore North America and a member of the Sitecore Board of Directors. The format was designed around the relationship between interviewer and interviewee, giving the conversation the visual polish of a broadcast interview while preserving the natural rhythm of a live exchange.
A Classic Three-Camera Interview Setup
The production used a classic network-news, 60 Minutes-style interview configuration: one wide two-shot showing both participants together, plus a dedicated single on Miles and a dedicated single on Hansen. The wide establishes the conversation and physical relationship between the speakers, while the singles provide clean coverage for questions, answers and reactions.
This arrangement gives the editor a complete visual grammar for a long-form conversation. A strong answer can stay on Hansen, a question can cut cleanly to Miles, and the wide can reset the scene or preserve continuity between exchanges. Because all three cameras run simultaneously, the edit can tighten pauses and restructure sections without breaking the natural flow of the discussion.
Lighting Two People for Three Cameras
Three-camera interview lighting is more demanding than lighting a single talking head. Each participant needs a flattering individual key while the shared wide still has to feel balanced and coherent. The lighting also has to preserve consistent skin tone, eye light and separation from the background from multiple angles at once.
The objective is not to make each camera look independently lit, but to make the entire conversation feel like one environment. Key and fill relationships, background exposure and practical sources are coordinated so the close singles retain dimension while the wide still reads naturally. That consistency is what allows the editor to cut freely among all three angles.
Interviewer and Interviewee Coverage
Lee Miles served as the interviewer, bringing a customer-success perspective to the conversation. His camera needed to function as more than reaction coverage: questions, listening moments and follow-ups all contribute to the story and help shape the pacing of the finished interview.
Bjarne Hansen was the principal interview subject. Hansen created Sitecore’s North American presence in 2004, grew the operation across the United States and Canada, built the company’s partner program, later served as Customer Evangelist and joined Sitecore’s Board of Directors. His role gave the conversation a direct connection to Sitecore’s growth and history in North America.
Editorial Flexibility Without Losing the Conversation
The value of a three-camera fireside chat is that the edit can be shaped aggressively without making the audience feel that the conversation has been fragmented. Reactions can cover trims, the interviewer angle can bridge between ideas, and the two-shot can restore a sense of continuity when moving between longer sections.
That flexibility is particularly useful for executive and founder interviews, where the strongest final story may combine material from different points in the conversation. With synchronized coverage of both speakers and the shared wide, the edit can remain visually natural while becoming substantially more concise.
Corporate Interview Production for Sitecore
The finished piece combines broadcast-style interview coverage with a fireside-chat tone: formal enough for an enterprise audience, but conversational enough to let the relationship between the speakers carry the program. Camera placement, eyelines, sound, lighting and synchronization all support that balance.
The project is a practical example of how three-camera interview production can turn a long-form executive conversation into a polished, flexible corporate asset without sacrificing the authenticity of the exchange.
