Making Cloud Communications Visible

Capitola Media produced a narrative commercial for Intermedia that places cloud communications inside a fictional skateboard company. A customer submits an idea, the information moves through the organization, and the team turns it into action. The product's role is demonstrated through a story rather than an isolated list of software features.

The production combined live action, performance, production design and graffiti-inspired motion graphics. Capitola Media's work extended from production planning and physical execution through editing, graphics, sound, color and final delivery.

The Creative Challenge

Communications platforms connect people through calls, messages, meetings and customer conversations, but those connections are not inherently visual. The commercial needed a recognizable situation that would make the movement of information understandable without stopping the film for a technical explanation.

The customer idea supplies that central thread. It gives the viewer a reason to follow the exchange and establishes what the employees are trying to accomplish. Each scene contributes to the response, keeping the technology connected to a practical business activity.

The skateboard company also creates a distinctive setting for a B2B product. Its informal workplace, creative culture and visual energy move the story away from a conventional corporate-office demonstration while keeping collaboration central.

Building the Fictional Company

Costumes, props, artwork, products and environmental details were developed to make the business feel like an operating brand rather than a generic backdrop. The production design gives the performers a coherent world and gives the graphics a visual language that belongs in the space.

Capitola Media provided commercial video production involving casting, location work, art direction, wardrobe, sound and a crew of approximately 100 people. The departments coordinated performances, camera movement, lighting, set details and continuity across the live-action material.

The scale supported a cinematic commercial, but the film still needed to feel active and approachable. The finished story depends on the relationship between the people, the customer request and the response, not on production scale alone.

Integrating Graffiti-Inspired Motion Graphics

Animated arrows, tags, message bubbles, bursts and hand-drawn marks visualize information moving through the company. The graphics connect people and ideas while reinforcing the skateboard culture established by the physical environment.

Rather than cutting away to a separate interface, the graphic elements interact with rooms, walls, objects and performers. Planning that relationship before filming allowed the live action to accommodate the animation rather than leaving every integration decision until the edit.

The project illustrates how motion graphics and animation can do more than decorate a commercial. Here, they help reveal a process that the camera cannot show directly and keep that explanation inside the story's visual style.

Explaining the Product Through the Story

The film keeps the customer idea in view as information reaches the appropriate people and becomes part of the creative process. That structure makes the benefit of communication recognizable without attempting to explain every function of the platform.

This is a different task from a detailed product demonstration. A demonstration may need to show exact actions and interface behavior. This commercial establishes a larger use case and a memorable brand environment. Both formats can support a technology campaign, but they should not be expected to carry the same level of detail.

The Finished Commercial

The completed film brings performance, physical production and animation into one coherent visual story. It demonstrates Capitola Media's approach to video for technology companies: connect the product to a specific situation, make the important process visible, and preserve a clear narrative through production and postproduction.
