Commercial Video Production

Commercials for Brands, Products and Campaigns

Capitola Media produces commercials for companies and in-house teams that need a focused message and a distinctive visual idea. Our work includes brand films, product campaigns, scripted spots, interview-driven advertising and content for paid social, streaming, broadcast and owned channels.

We can develop a concept from a campaign brief or execute an established established treatment. Creative development, casting, production, editing, graphics, sound and finishing are planned around the intended audience and placements. The deliverable may be one spot or a coordinated set of campaign versions.

Selected Commercial Work

The Inkling commercial translated an enterprise software story into a physical retail environment on a Los Angeles sound stage. Capitola Media managed production and postproduction so the setting, performances and edit supported one clear product idea.

Our GoDaddy film featuring Ayesha Curry took a different approach, using her Oakland workplace and personal business experience to connect an entrepreneur's story with the brand. These examples demonstrate why the production method should follow the campaign rather than a fixed visual formula.

Developing the Creative Approach

Before writing or selecting a treatment, we clarify what the audience needs to understand and what action the commercial should support. A recognizable situation, product demonstration, performance, visual metaphor or documentary approach may provide the strongest route into the idea.

Development can include scripts, treatments, storyboards, references and a delivery plan. We also identify how the product will appear, whether dialogue is necessary and where graphics or visual effects will be required. A short commercial should not be expected to carry every feature or message; related assets can provide detail for interested viewers.

Casting, Locations and Production

The crew and production plan are built around the concept. Live action can require directing, cinematography, lighting, professional sound, art direction, wardrobe, hair and makeup, casting and production management. A controlled product shoot may need a different combination of resources from a narrative commercial with several performers and locations.

We assess practical locations and studios for appearance, space, sound, access, lighting control and schedule. Sets, props and wardrobe should support the story and approved brand presentation. Product preparation is especially important when surfaces, packaging, screens or repeated actions need to remain consistent across shots.

Talent uses and distribution requirements are identified early. The agreed media, duration, territory and versions inform casting and the materials selected for production. Clients and their designated representatives approve claims, talent uses, permissions and licensed content.

Product Detail and Motion Graphics

Some commercials need to demonstrate how an offering works. Our product demo production can combine physical operation, screen recordings, close details and a clear sequence of actions. The commercial keeps the strongest benefit central while a separate demonstration can explain a fuller workflow.

Motion graphics and animation can make a service, interface or otherwise invisible process understandable. Graphics may be simple labels and callouts or an integral part of the concept. Planning them before filming helps live action and postproduction work together rather than treating animation as a late addition.

Campaign Versions and Finishing

A campaign may need primary spots, shorter edits, vertical and square versions, alternate openings, captions, language versions and clean masters. We identify the version plan before production so dialogue, framing, products and graphics remain useful across the required formats.

Editing shapes the performances and imagery into a focused advertisement. Finishing may include motion design, visual effects, color, sound design, music, mixing and technical mastering. Broadcaster, platform or media-partner specifications are confirmed for the particular delivery rather than assumed to be identical across placements.

Media buying, targeting and campaign measurement remain with the client or its designated marketing partners unless separately included. Our production work supplies the agreed creative assets; we do not promise a particular advertising return.

Budget, Schedule and Collaboration

Cost and timing depend on the concept, shoot days, locations, cast, crew, production design, equipment, postproduction complexity and final versions. An agreed script, clear review milestones and one consolidated set of client comments help keep the production focused. Capitola Media supports commercial work in the San Francisco Bay Area, New York City, Los Angeles and Southern California, and other locations nationwide.

Discuss a Commercial Production

Discuss your campaign with Capitola Media. Share the brief, audience, intended placements, deadline and required versions. An approved established concept is welcome, but a fully developed script is not required to begin planning.

B2C Commercial Video Production

B2C video production often has to establish a product, brand or offer quickly while still giving the viewer a credible reason to care. We plan consumer commercials around the buying situation, placement and next action, with production choices such as casting, art direction, product cinematography, lifestyle footage and shorter campaign versions following that strategy. See our B2B vs. B2C video production guide for a deeper comparison.
