A 10-Video Series for Lingokids

Capitola Media produced 10 videos for Lingokids, combining live-action production with animation for a children’s educational content series. Lingokids creates play-based learning content for young children, using games, songs, videos and original characters to make educational activities feel entertaining and approachable.

The assignment was not a single spot. It was a multi-video production designed around a repeatable format, with live-action performers and practical activities integrated into the same visual world as Lingokids’ animated characters.

Child Actors and Cooking Production

Several of the videos were built around cooking. That meant coordinating child actors, adult performers, kitchen activity, food preparation, props and continuity while keeping the performances relaxed and age-appropriate. Production with children requires a different pace from a conventional commercial shoot: the schedule, direction and number of takes all need to account for the performers rather than forcing the day into an adult production rhythm.

The cooking scenes also needed to remain clear enough to support the educational purpose. Ingredients, actions and reactions had to read visually, while the live-action footage still left room for animated characters and graphic elements to enter the finished frame.

Designing Live Action for Animation

The hybrid format required the live-action shoot and animation to be planned together. Framing, eyelines, performer timing and negative space were considered during production so animated characters could be added later without feeling detached from the scene.

This is where our motion graphics and animation work intersects with physical production. The camera does not simply record a finished environment; it records the foundation for a composite image in which live performers and designed characters need to appear to occupy the same world.

Educational Content Rather Than a Product Demo

We classify this work under Education rather than EdTech because the primary deliverable was educational media for children, not a demonstration of software features or a platform sales story. Lingokids is a digital learning company, but this assignment was about producing the content itself.

The series demonstrates how live action, animation and child-directed production can work together across a repeatable set of educational videos. It also shows the production demands behind seemingly simple children’s content: casting, scheduling, food and prop continuity, animation planning, performance direction and a consistent visual language across multiple episodes.
