Audi’s Electric Debut in the San Francisco Bay Area

Capitola Media filmed and helped produce live event video content for the launch of the Audi e-tron, Audi’s first fully electric series-production model. The world premiere brought a major automotive introduction to the San Francisco Bay Area.

The five-passenger electric SUV marked the beginning of a broader electrification strategy for Audi. The launch needed to introduce a new vehicle while communicating a change in direction for a globally recognized automotive brand. Our video work captured that milestone through the vehicle presentation, stage imagery, and the audience gathered for the reveal.

A Waterfront World Premiere

The event, called “The Charge,” took place at the historic Craneway Pavilion in Richmond. Around 1,600 guests from across the world traveled by boat from San Francisco’s Embarcadero to the waterfront venue. The journey across the bay made the setting part of the experience before guests reached the stage.

Audi and Intel also presented indoor and outdoor drone light shows, with 850 drones used across three aerial performances. Audi’s four-ring emblem and e-tron branding appeared above the bay as part of the larger launch experience. Inside, the vehicle presentation combined expansive screens, lighting, and the car itself to give the audience a shared view of the new model.

Capturing the Vehicle and the Live Presentation

The event video places the e-tron within the scale of its unveiling. A wide view of the stage shows the vehicle, presenter, audience, and large presentation screens together. The screens carry both vehicle imagery and product messaging, extending the presentation across the room.

For this kind of live event production, the story depends on the relationship between the product and its introduction. The car provides the focal point, while the staging and audience establish the occasion. Video coverage preserves those elements as a connected experience.

A launch also has a rhythm that differs from a conventional commercial shoot. The presentation moves forward in front of its audience, and the coverage needs to follow it. Changes in lighting, speaker position, screen content, and vehicle presentation all shape what the camera needs to show.

From a Live Brand Moment to Event Video

The finished video provides a compact record of the launch. It connects Audi’s product presentation with the setting and scale of the event, giving viewers a way to experience the occasion beyond the room.

The project brings together automotive storytelling and corporate video production around a specific business milestone. It is also an example of Capitola Media’s San Francisco Bay Area video production work supporting brands at product launches, executive presentations, and live events.
