Live Event Photography and B-Roll in San Francisco
Capitola Media provided still photography and b-roll for a Liquid AI hackathon and fireside chat in San Francisco, featuring co-founder Ramin Hasani. The assignment combined corporate event photography with supporting video coverage, documenting a developer gathering and a conversation with one of the people behind the company.
Liquid AI and Its MIT Origins
Liquid AI was founded by four researchers from MIT's Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory: Ramin Hasani, Mathias Lechner, Alexander Amini and Daniela Rus. Hasani's background includes research into liquid neural networks, robust deep learning and decision-making in complex systems. That research background provides context for a company focused on making AI more efficient and practical to deploy.
The company develops Liquid Foundation Models for general-purpose and specialized applications. Its business centers on efficient AI models and their deployment, including systems that run locally on devices rather than relying exclusively on cloud infrastructure. Compute requirements, response time and privacy are important considerations for that approach. For developers and enterprises, the question is not only what a model can do, but where it can run and how it fits a real application.
A Fireside Chat Within a Developer Event
The San Francisco shoot brought together two complementary subjects: the hackathon and the fireside conversation featuring Hasani. A founder discussion gives a technical event a personal perspective, connecting the company's direction with someone involved in building it. Photography captures the speakers, their interaction and the setting in a form that can stand on its own, while b-roll adds a motion record of the event.
Our live event production work includes assignments like this alongside conferences, panels and company meetings. The coverage should reflect the actual program and the intended use of the material, rather than treating every gathering as the same kind of event.
Corporate Photography Alongside Video
Still photography and b-roll serve different communication needs. A photograph can accompany an event recap, editorial feature, company website or social post. Supporting motion footage can contribute context and visual continuity to a later video edit. Bringing both into the assignment gives a communications team distinct types of material from the same live setting.
This project connects our commercial and corporate photography with our work for AI and emerging technology companies. The subject was artificial intelligence; the production was grounded in real people, a live conversation and an on-location San Francisco shoot.
